The Federal Government has announced December 25 and 26, 2024, as public holidays to mark Christmas and Boxing Day celebrations, while January 1, 2025, is set aside for New Year festivities.
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, made this known in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani. He extended warm wishes to Nigerians, urging them to reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity that the festive season embodies.
Highlighting the significance of Christmas as a period of harmony, Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged citizens to embrace kindness, demonstrate goodwill, and strengthen bonds across communities. “This season reminds us of the Prince of Peace, and it is an opportunity for spiritual reflection and national renewal,” he said.
The Minister also called for unwavering commitment to the nation’s unity and progress, stressing the importance of working collectively towards national development. He reassured Nigerians of the Federal Government’s efforts to sustain peace, security, and economic growth, emphasizing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration as a pathway to a prosperous 2025.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo concluded by wishing all Nigerians a merry Christmas and a new year filled with prosperity and global recognition for the country’s economic strides.
