The Kwara State Government has demoted Hajia Fatimoh Hamzat Nike, a teacher at Government Day Junior Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin, by two grade levels for allegedly assaulting a youth corps member posted to the school.
According to a joint statement by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, and the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission, Mallam Bello Tauheed Abubakar, an investigative panel found the teacher guilty of misconduct, including fighting on duty, using foul language, and disrespecting the National Youth Service Corps uniform.
The government described her actions as a violation of public service rules and announced her transfer to another school. Additionally, she will undergo counseling sessions as part of corrective measures.
The state government condemned the behavior, assuring the NYSC that such abuse does not reflect the values of Kwara State and will not be tolerated.
Teachers in the state were reminded to remain law-abiding and adhere to professional ethics, as the government continues to prioritize training on teaching standards and conduct.
