The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has praised the Kwara State Government for sanctioning Hajia Fatimoh Nike Hamzat, a teacher who verbally and physically assaulted a female Corps member serving at Government Day Junior Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin.

NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, commended the objectivity of the investigative panel set up by the state government, which recommended Hamzat’s demotion in accordance with Public Service Rules. Ahmed emphasized that Corps members on national assignment deserve respect and fair treatment as contributors to nation-building and unity.

The incident, triggered by the Corps member allegedly failing to greet Hamzat properly, led to swift action after NYSC lodged a complaint with the Kwara State government. The teacher’s demotion reflects the Scheme’s zero tolerance for maltreatment of Corps members.
