Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has declared that leaders selected by God are more likely to succeed than those propelled by personal ambition or satanic influence. Speaking during the virtual interactive session, “Boiling Point Arena,” on Sunday night, Obasanjo emphasized the divine preparation often required for effective leadership.
Using biblical examples such as Joseph, Moses, and David, Obasanjo highlighted how God meticulously prepares individuals for leadership roles, often without their awareness. “God has a way of preparing people for leadership even without them knowing it,” he stated, referencing Joseph’s dreams and Moses’ unwitting journey toward leading the Israelites.
However, Obasanjo argued that not all leaders are made by God, asserting that some are influenced by Satan. “I don’t accept that all leaders are made by God. A leader can also be made by Satan,” he noted, citing the biblical story of Job to demonstrate Satan’s power and influence.
The former president urged Nigerians to be discerning, warning that while Satan wields significant power, true leadership demands divine preparation and rigorous training. He stressed that without God’s guidance, leaders are likely to falter, as success becomes elusive when leadership is pursued without divine purpose.
The session, broadcast on private radio stations in Abeokuta, Ogun State, delved into Obasanjo’s political legacy and his views on the moral and spiritual dimensions of leadership.
Obasanjo concluded by encouraging aspiring leaders to embrace a journey of preparation and to seek divine direction, ensuring they are fit to lead with integrity and purpose.
