The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the killing of Gideon Ebukwe by suspected assassins at Ok Winners Hotel, Igbosoro, Igode, in Sagamu Local Government Area. The attack occurred on Tuesday afternoon, with five unidentified armed men targeting the victim in what appears to be a coordinated operation.
According to SP Omolola Odutola, the State Police Public Relations Officer, the assailants stormed the hotel around 3:30 pm, locked the staff—mostly women—in another room, and proceeded directly to Ebukwe’s room. In an attempt to escape, the victim broke through the ceiling but was chased down, shot, and killed. The attackers also took his belongings before fleeing.
Police officers, led by the divisional police officer, responded to the scene, but no arrests have been made so far. The victim’s body has been deposited at Jas Medical Mortuary in Ogijo.
Odutola revealed that investigations have commenced to determine if the attack was cult-related, with the case set to be transferred to the State Police Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for a more thorough probe.
Residents have expressed concern over the rising spate of violent crimes in the area, urging security agencies to intensify efforts to prevent further incidents.
