Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has called on Arsenal to prioritize the signing of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen during the January transfer window. Ferdinand believes the prolific Napoli forward could be the key to reigniting the Gunners’ Premier League title ambitions.
Arsenal’s struggles in front of goal have been evident this season, with the team failing to score from open play in their last four matches. Currently sitting third in the Premier League standings behind Liverpool and Chelsea, Mikel Arteta’s side is in desperate need of attacking reinforcements.
Ferdinand, speaking to Football Transfers, highlighted Osimhen as a transformative signing. “Now, you ain’t having a number nine that’s coming on and impacting games. But I don’t even think you’ve got to buy an Osimhen, although I would buy Osimhen,” he said. “You’ve got to buy someone who can come in and impact games.”
Osimhen, known for his clinical finishing and physical presence, has been a standout performer in Serie A and could offer Arsenal the firepower they need to challenge for the title.
The January transfer window presents a critical opportunity for Arsenal to bolster their squad and address their attacking deficiencies as they aim to maintain their position among the league’s elite.
