Vice President Kashim Shettima has launched Nigeria’s Hazard Risk Countrywide Analysis 2024 in Abuja, a report detailing critical socio-economic threats to the nation, including insecurity, natural disasters, and health epidemics. The event was attended by key dignitaries, including Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu.

The report identifies persistent security challenges in regions such as Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe in the North-East, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kaduna in the North-West, and Imo, Enugu, and Ebonyi in the South-East. Additionally, it reveals that 80–95% of states in Nigeria face significant flood risks.

Health-wise, the analysis highlights recurring outbreaks of diseases like cholera, meningitis, measles, yellow fever, and Lassa fever as major national epidemics. Over 400 representatives from various sectors contributed to the research process for the comprehensive report.
