Swedish authorities have dropped an investigation into alleged rape and sexual assault in Stockholm, with prosecutor Marina Chirakova citing insufficient evidence. The case, which Swedish media associated with Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe, concluded without the footballer being interrogated or formally notified of suspicion.

The incident reportedly occurred on October 10, during Mbappe’s private visit to Stockholm. While unnamed in official statements, outlets such as Aftonbladet and Expressen identified the French forward as the suspect. Prosecutor Chirakova stated that additional evidence or interrogation of the individual would not change the case’s outcome.

The plaintiff, whose identity remains undisclosed, filed the complaint on October 12 after seeking medical attention. Police reportedly collected clothing items from the scene as evidence.

Speaking publicly on the matter for the first time, Mbappe denied any involvement, telling French television, “I haven’t received anything, no summons… I’m not involved.” His lawyer previously described the allegations as shocking.

Mbappe, 25, has enjoyed a stellar football career, including a World Cup win in 2018, and remains one of the world’s highest-profile players. Despite recent challenges at Real Madrid, he continues to demonstrate his prowess on the field, scoring in Madrid’s crucial 3-2 Champions League victory against Atalanta this week.
