Award-winning singer Timi Dakolo has shared the touching story of how he met and won the heart of his wife, Busola Dakolo, despite early challenges, including her initial reluctance and moments of embarrassment over his branded Picanto car.

Recounting their journey during a recent interview, the ‘Iyawo Mi’ crooner revealed that their love story began at church. Determined to win her over, he first asked Busola to accompany him to a ball, but his attempts to reach her were thwarted when her phone was stolen. Despite this setback, Timi didn’t give up, often visiting her neighborhood in hopes of meeting her again. His persistence eventually led to a friendship that blossomed into love, even as she tried to friend-zone him.

“I suffered to win her love,” Timi confessed. “I was taking her to work and back every day. She was embarrassed when I picked her up in the branded Picanto I won from Nigerian Idols in 2007. I told her, ‘Don’t worry. I will shock you. Don’t look down on me.’ And I did.”
