Vanessa O’Callaghan, a 36-year-old woman, has died from injuries sustained in an assault in Cork city centre on Sunday evening. The incident occurred between 7:15 pm and 8:15 pm near the Savoy Cinema on St. Patrick’s Street, close to a soup kitchen, Gardaí confirmed.

O’Callaghan, who had been utilizing homeless services for years, was found unresponsive at the scene. She succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday, as reported by Irish broadcaster RTÉ.

Authorities have launched an investigation and are appealing to witnesses or individuals with dash-cam footage from the area during the time of the assault to provide information to assist in their inquiries.
