Armed bandits have struck again in Zamfara State, planting explosives along the Dansadau-Gusau road in the Mai Lamba axis under Maru Local Government Area. The attack, which occurred on Wednesday, claimed the lives of six travellers and injured eight others when a Volkswagen Golf 3 vehicle triggered one of the explosives.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as devastating, with gory images showing victims lying lifeless by the roadside. According to resident Abdullahi Dansadau, “The vehicle was completely destroyed. Six people died on the spot, and eight others sustained injuries.”
Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre for Operation Fansar Yamma, confirmed the incident and vowed that those responsible would be brought to justice. An Explosives Ordnance Disposal team has been deployed to the area to detect and neutralize any remaining threats.
This marks the second such attack in three days, intensifying fear among residents in Dansadau Emirate, where bandits have increasingly used explosives to terrorize communities. Authorities have urged vigilance and the reporting of suspicious activities as efforts to secure the region continue.
