Social media activist Martins Ortse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has refuted allegations of threatening the life of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), over the revocation of a plot of land belonging to the family of the late Colonel Paul Osakpamwan Ogbebor.
A viral video had surfaced claiming that Wike revoked the land, allocated since 1981, sparking widespread reactions online. However, a WhatsApp broadcast falsely accused VDM of issuing threats against Wike in connection with the matter.
Reacting to the allegations in a post on Instagram, VDM categorically denied any involvement in threats, clarifying that his advocacy is solely aimed at seeking justice for the oppressed.
“I did not threaten Nyesom Wike’s life,” VDM stated. “I only appealed for the minister to re-evaluate the land documents presented by the late Colonel Ogbebor’s family. The documents are genuine, and the family are the rightful owners.”
VDM further explained that his video had been maliciously edited with misleading captions to implicate him. “It’s not in my nature or character to threaten anyone’s life. I use my platform to advocate for justice, not violence,” he added.
The late Colonel Paul Osakpamwan Ogbebor was a prominent war veteran and the first cadet of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), with the code 001. The land in question had reportedly been in the family’s possession for over four decades before the recent revocation by the FCT administration.
VDM’s call for justice has sparked significant attention online, with supporters urging Minister Wike to re-examine the land revocation and ensure fairness for the Ogbebor family.
