Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Wizkid has achieved a significant milestone with his latest album, Morayo, debuting at number 98 on the Billboard 200 chart. Released on November 22, 2024, the album sold 13,000 units in its first week, marking Wizkid’s fourth entry onto the prestigious chart.
Morayo serves as a heartfelt tribute to Wizkid’s late mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away in August 2023. The 16-track album features collaborations with artists such as Asake, Brent Faiyaz, Jazmine Sullivan, Tiakola, and Anaïs Cardot, showcasing a rich fusion of Afrobeats with global musical influences.
The album has garnered critical acclaim, with NME describing it as “a beautiful tribute” that fuels the dancefloor for Wizkid’s cathartic release.
