Manchester United’s 3-1 loss to Brighton has sparked a sharp rebuke from English sports presenter Richard Keys, who suggests manager Ruben Amorim is deliberately angling for the sack. Amorim, appointed last November to replace Erik ten Hag, is under mounting pressure, especially after labeling his squad the “worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United.”
Keys took issue with Amorim’s blunt post-match assessment, arguing that it’s the manager’s responsibility to improve team performance rather than publicly denigrate players. “We know United are bad. That’s why you’re there, Ruben,” Keys wrote in his latest blog. “It’s your job to fix it, not tell us you only have one way and then inform the world your players are s***.”
The outspoken presenter suggested the Portuguese tactician might be engineering his own exit: “I said a couple of weeks ago I thought he was trying to get the sack. I’m even more convinced now.” Keys urged club officials to take swift action, advising them to grant Amorim “his wish” if he’s unwilling to adapt and guide the squad out of its slump.
