Big Brother Naija Season 9 winner, Kellyrae, has shared a deeply personal story of how gambling losses nearly ruined his life and his relationship with Kassia.
Speaking candidly during an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Kellyrae revealed that he became addicted to gambling shortly before his time on the reality show, losing all his money in the process. The financial crisis left him battling depression and overwhelmed by guilt for not being able to provide adequately for Kassia.
“I had some money, but because I wanted more, I gambled it all away and lost everything,” Kellyrae said. “Every night, I was awake, thinking. I became depressed. Then Kassia stood by me during those difficult times and rescued me emotionally.”
Kellyrae confessed that he even considered ending their relationship, believing he was unworthy of her love and support. “One day, I told her, ‘Let’s just break up. I don’t have what it takes to care for you, and I feel guilty most of the time.’ But she refused to give up on me,” he added.
The reality star credits Kassia for her unwavering support, which helped him overcome his struggles and focus on rebuilding his life. His story serves as a powerful reminder of the dangers of gambling addiction and the value of a supportive partner during tough times.
