Former Rivers United star Augustine Okejepha has expressed confidence in the home-based Super Eagles’ chances of excelling at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN). The tournament, set to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, will run from February 1 to February 28, 2025.

Speaking about the team’s prospects, Okejepha commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for their commitment to ensuring the team’s readiness. “I have been following the team’s preparations through the qualifying round to this stage, and I must say that I am impressed with the quality of players and the coaching crew,” the Simba SC midfielder said.

He highlighted the blend of experience and youth within the squad as a key strength. “The CHAN Eagles have a good mix of experience and youth, and I believe that they will give a good account of themselves at the championship. They have been working hard, and their dedication and commitment to the cause is evident.”

Okejepha singled out standout players like Adamu Abubakar, Sodiq Ismail, Rabiu Ali (Pele), and Badmus Nurudeen, emphasizing their potential to lead the team to success. “When you have players like these in the mix, then you know the Eagles have a better chance to excel in the championship,” he added.

The midfielder also praised the NFF for their efforts in supporting the team, expressing optimism that their preparations would yield positive results.

The CHAN tournament is exclusively for players competing in their domestic leagues, and the Nigerian squad is determined to make a strong statement on the continental stage. With a combination of talent, preparation, and support, fans are hopeful that the Eagles will bring glory to the nation.
