The Delta State Police Command has uncovered a shocking scheme involving a young woman, Princess, and her boyfriend, Prince, who faked her kidnapping in an attempt to extort ₦2 million from her parents.

On December 30, 2024, Princess allegedly visited Prince’s home, where they concocted the plan. Prince then contacted her parents, claiming she had been abducted and demanding a ₦2 million ransom.

Delta Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed the incident in a tweet, stating, “The girl told her boyfriend to call her parents and claim she had been kidnapped. He did and demanded ₦2,000,000. The girl’s mother, distraught, reported the case to the command, and we immediately swung into action.”

The swift intervention by the Delta Police Command foiled the deceitful plan. Both suspects are now in custody, and investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the plot.
