The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 105 suspects, including four Chinese nationals, in connection with internet fraud and a sophisticated hotel review scam targeting victims in Europe and beyond.
The suspects, comprising 67 males and 38 females, were arrested on Thursday, January 9, at a business apartment in the Gudu area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
According to a statement released by EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the operation is part of the Commission’s intensified efforts to combat cybercrime and corruption nationwide.
The EFCC disclosed that the suspects are linked to a coordinated scam involving fraudulent reviews of hotels, aimed at deceiving establishments and individuals globally.
“All arrested individuals will face prosecution upon the conclusion of investigations,” the statement added.
This development highlights the ongoing battle against internet fraud in Nigeria, as the EFCC continues to track and dismantle fraudulent networks operating within and outside the country.
