The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has officially received 112 newly trained Police Constables, who successfully completed their training at the Police Training School in Niger State. This group is part of the 10,000 recruits who passed out on January 23, 2025, as part of nationwide efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture.
During a formal ceremony on Tuesday, January 28, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police for assigning the officers to the command. Disu emphasized that their addition would significantly enhance public safety and security across the FCT.
Addressing the recruits, CP Disu urged them to prioritize professionalism, discipline, and integrity in their duties. “Your role is critical to safeguarding lives and property in the nation’s capital. Uphold international best practices in policing and serve with honor,” he stated.
As part of their integration, the newly inducted officers will embark on a two-week break before participating in a specialized retraining program designed to prepare them for the unique challenges of policing in the Federal Capital Territory.
The FCT Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, reaffirmed that the recruits are ready to support the existing workforce in addressing emerging security challenges, including the safety of residents and the prevention of crime.
The recruitment initiative aligns with the Nigerian government’s ongoing commitment to addressing security concerns nationwide by increasing the capacity and capability of its law enforcement agencies. The move has been widely applauded by stakeholders as a proactive step toward strengthening the country’s security framework.
