The Imo State Police Command has apprehended Inspector Augustine Odidika and three other suspects following the murder of lawyer Chinedu Nwowu in Mgbidi Town on January 29, 2025.

Prior to his death, Nwowu had filed a petition to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, alleging that Inspector Odidika had threatened his life. This petition remained unaddressed before the tragic incident.

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Owerri Branch, led by Chairman Chief Chris Ihentuge, met with Imo State Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma on January 27, 2025. During the meeting, the NBA emphasized the need for a thorough investigation and pledged their support.

The case has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department. Authorities are also seeking a warrant officer based in Enugu who has been implicated in the case.
