Kate Henshaw has entered the raging debate sparked by a viral clip of fellow Nollywood veteran, Ngozi Ezeonu, reprimanding audition candidates who showed up without wearing bras. Ezeonu’s sharp dressing-down triggered both support and criticism online, but Henshaw insists the actress was simply upholding professional standards.
In a video message, Henshaw likened auditions to job interviews, reminding aspiring actors that filmmaking is no “casual hustle” and referencing respected names like Joke Silva, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), and Patience Ozokwor to underscore the industry’s high bar.
“I don’t know what bra did to you, but if you’re going somewhere for an interview, dress with respect,” Henshaw stated. “We can’t let people think this profession is an ‘anyhow’ setup. If you refuse to learn at home, someone will teach you outside.”
Fans’ Mixed Reactions
Many on social media rallied behind Henshaw’s stance, while others found the critique of braless dressing intrusive. Here’s a sample of the comments:
@useful_herbs: “I agree with Kate. An audition is an interview; you can’t dress like you’re out to buy groundnuts.”
@mystical_paul2: “Mama Ngozi was right; modesty matters.”
@iamfreddylion01: “These same people will complain about harassment if they’re asked to reveal more skin later.”
@blacnap_ier: “If you’re not trained at home, you’ll be trained outside. Simple!”
@cslarkofficial: “Ngozi did what any mother would do. We need to return to decency.”
@nikeolanite: “I, for one, don’t wear bras but bralettes. Either way, you can’t show up at an audition with it all hanging out. There’s a standard.”
