The Niger State Police Command has arrested 30-year-old Jamilu Saidu for allegedly killing a wedding guest, Iliyasu Aminu, during a violent clash between two villages at Kumbashi District, Mariga Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun confirmed that the incident occurred on Saturday, January 18, 2025, when tensions between Yabawa and Ungwar Sarkin-Daji villages escalated into a fight that extended to a wedding venue. During the chaos, Saidu allegedly struck Aminu on the head with a machete, leading to his death.

“The suspect confessed to the crime and has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Minna for further investigation and prosecution,” Abiodun said.
