Renowned Nigerian gospel artist Mercy Chinwo has accused her former manager, Ezekiel Onyedikachi, popularly known as EeZee Tee, of making her life toxic and issuing threats against her. The singer made the allegations in a heartfelt video posted on her Instagram page on Tuesday afternoon, sharing her side of the escalating feud with EeZee Tee, who owns her former record label, EeZee Conceptz.
Chinwo claimed that EeZee Tee bullied and oppressed her, forcing her to relocate from Lagos to Port Harcourt due to fear for her safety. She also alleged that he replaced her original contracts, signed in 2017 and 2019, without her knowledge. This comes just two weeks after she dragged EeZee Tee to court, accusing him of diverting $345,000 in royalties.
“I never believed a day would come when I’d have to share my story publicly,” Chinwo said in the now-viral video. “This man said, ‘I made you who you are, and I will destroy you.’ I became scared for my life. I endured bullying and threats. Lagos became toxic for me, and I had to move to Port Harcourt. He even told the public I sued him, but the truth is he took me to court.”
Her video sheds light on a legal battle that has intensified since the Lagos State Federal High Court issued an arrest warrant directing the EFCC to ensure EeZee Tee appears in court. Reacting to the allegations, EeZee Tee denied Chinwo’s claims in an Instagram post, accusing her of lying despite being a gospel artist who sings about Jesus.
Chinwo’s accusations have sparked widespread debate online, with many fans and industry stakeholders expressing support for the singer while others demand further investigation into the allegations.
The once-fruitful partnership between Chinwo and EeZee Tee is now embroiled in controversy, casting a shadow over both their reputations. Chinwo concluded her video by urging the public to understand her plight and stand against oppression in the gospel music industry.
