Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested suspected human traffickers transporting 59 children, aged between four and 12 years, in a white Peugeot J5 bus.

The operation, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sarki Umar, took place on January 6, 2025, when the vehicle was intercepted en route to Nasarawa State. The children were reportedly trafficked from Kano and were being transported under suspicious circumstances.

The Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Tunji Disu, confirmed the arrest during a briefing in Abuja on Wednesday. He commended the vigilance of the police team and emphasized the command’s commitment to combating child trafficking and other crimes within the territory.
