Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has declared an uncompromising stance against criminal activities, particularly kidnapping, while affirming his administration’s commitment to eliminating criminal elements in the state. Speaking on Sunday during an interdenominational church service at the Government House Chapel in Owerri to mark the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Uzodinma assured citizens that no effort would be spared to bring kidnappers to justice.
The governor expressed confidence that God would expose individuals behind the sponsorship of crime in the state, emphasizing his administration’s determination to restore lasting peace. He called on those hiding in the forests to surrender their arms and reintegrate into society, pledging that his government was ready to embrace repentant individuals willing to change their ways.
Acknowledging the sacrifices of fallen soldiers, Uzodinma praised the Armed Forces for their role in maintaining the peace and unity of the nation. He urged citizens to appreciate the peace being enjoyed today, attributing it to the supreme price paid by military officers. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day, set for January 15, is observed nationwide to honor these heroes.
During his address, Uzodinma cautioned against acts of vandalism and violence, stressing that perpetrators would ultimately be accountable to God. He also encouraged the public to actively condemn evil by speaking out against it, reinforcing the moral fabric of the society.
In his homily, Reverend Father Augustine Agowuike drew parallels between the sacrifices of the Armed Forces and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who laid down his life for humanity. He urged Christians to continue supporting and praying for the military and other security agencies to ensure their efforts are not in vain.
The governor concluded by reiterating his administration’s full support for the security forces and efforts to sustain peace, urging all residents to prioritize the unity and stability of Imo State above all.
