Former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim, has intensified his feud with ex-Senator Chris Anyanwu, accusing her of concealing an apology she allegedly wrote to late military Head of State, General Sani Abacha. Ohakim promised to publish the letter in his forthcoming book to expose what he called a “false narrative” in Anyanwu’s recently launched book, Bold Leap.

The disagreement between the two intensified after Ohakim, during a recent interview, accused Anyanwu of benefiting from the military regime and omitting critical details from her book, including her alleged letter of apology to Abacha. Responding, Anyanwu challenged Ohakim to publish the letter if it exists, a move he interpreted as tacit admission of its authenticity.

In a strongly worded statement issued by his media aide, Amanze Ajoku, Ohakim lambasted Anyanwu for what he described as deliberate misrepresentation of facts, especially regarding his tenure and her claims about the 2011 Imo governorship election. Ohakim further alleged that Anyanwu used her media influence during that period to spread falsehoods about him.

Ohakim stated: “It is astonishing that Madam Christiana Anyanwu would write a 612-page book while conveniently concealing and cleverly omitting her apology letter to Abacha. Nigerians are not naive; they can spot a hypocrite from a mile away.”

He added that Anyanwu’s “track record speaks for itself—a history of strained relationships with family, colleagues, workers, and political associates.”

The former governor asserted that he would use his upcoming book to set the record straight and defend his reputation, including publishing the alleged letter to reveal the truth.

This ongoing feud has sparked debates over historical accountability and political narratives, with both parties refusing to back down from their claims.
