The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued Mrs. Folasade Odumosu, wife of former Assistant Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, after a daring raid that led to the death of her abductors.
Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the operation on Thursday morning via his official X (formerly Twitter) account. Adejobi revealed that the ransom, which had been used as bait, was recovered during the operation.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the swift and efficient efforts of the police operatives and the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo. He described the operation as a testament to the Force’s commitment to protecting Nigerian citizens and ensuring the safety of lives and property.
Mrs. Odumosu was abducted last Thursday at the entrance of her residence in the Arepo area of Ogun State. Her abduction had sparked widespread concern, particularly due to her connection to the former top-ranking police officer.
Reports indicate that the police acted decisively to track down the kidnappers, leading to the successful rescue and neutralization of the culprits. The operation also recovered critical evidence, including the ransom money, which had been strategically deployed to bait the abductors.
The rescue mission highlights the renewed determination of the Nigeria Police Force to combat violent crimes, particularly kidnappings, which have plagued various parts of the country.
Speaking on the operation, Adejobi reiterated the Force’s commitment to safeguarding the lives of Nigerians, saying, “We are determined to make our communities safer and ensure that criminals have no hiding place.”
This development has been widely lauded as a significant victory for law enforcement in Ogun State, where cases of abductions have been on the rise.
