American rapper Dajua Blanding, known professionally as Dank DeMoss, has filed a lawsuit against ride-hailing giant Lyft, alleging weight discrimination after a driver refused her service due to her size.

The Detroit-based rapper, who weighs 489 pounds, claims she was humiliated by the incident, which she captured on video and shared on TikTok.

“I was hurt and embarrassed. I have been in that same type of car many times and never had an issue. This was someone who was discriminating against me just because of my weight,” DeMoss told CBS News.

Her lawyers argue that the driver’s refusal violated Michigan’s anti-discrimination laws, which include weight as a protected characteristic.

Lyft, however, has responded in a statement, asserting that the company does not condone discrimination of any kind.

“Our community guidelines and terms of service explicitly prohibit harassment or discrimination,” the company stated.

The lawsuit has sparked widespread debate online, with many calling for greater inclusivity and policy clarity within the ride-hailing industry.
