Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District, has commended the Nigerian Army’s Joint Task Force, North East, ‘Operation Hadin Kai,’ for their commitment to combating insurgency in the region. During his visit to the military headquarters in Maiduguri on January 10, 2025, Ndume assessed the progress of ongoing operations aimed at restoring peace to the North East.
The Senator extended his condolences to the families of victims who lost their lives in the recent Boko Haram attack on Sabon Gari Village, Damboa Local Government Area, on Saturday. He also offered prayers for the swift recovery of those injured in the attack.
Speaking at the meeting, Ndume lauded the military for their resilience in tackling insurgency despite the challenges they face. He assured them of his continued support and called on Nigerians to recognize and appreciate the sacrifices made by the armed forces to safeguard lives and property.
“The gallant efforts of our soldiers in Operation Hadin Kai deserve more than words of commendation. We must provide them with every resource they need to bring lasting peace to the region,” Ndume said.
The Damboa attack underscores the persistent threat posed by insurgents in Borno State, but Ndume expressed confidence in the military’s ability to overcome these challenges with enhanced support and strategic planning.
His visit also included discussions with military officials on improving troop welfare and ensuring that affected communities receive adequate humanitarian assistance to rebuild their lives.
The North East has been the epicenter of Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgency for over a decade, but efforts by Operation Hadin Kai have reportedly led to significant territorial gains and reduced the capacity of insurgents to launch large-scale attacks.
