Former federal lawmaker and entertainment mogul Shina Peller has clarified rumors linking him to a popular TikTok comedian who also bears the name “Peller.” Addressing the speculation during an interview with Channels TV on January 7, 2025, Shina firmly denied any familial connection, emphasizing that the TikToker is not part of the renowned Professor Peller dynasty.

Shina explained that the name “Peller” originated as a stage name adopted by their late father, Professor Peller, a legendary magician. Over time, the family embraced the name as part of their identity.

“I have heard about the TikTok star Peller, and a lot of people have asked me if he’s a member of our family,” Shina said. “Professor Peller’s family is quite extended, but he is not one of us. The name ‘Peller’ was given to our father as a magician, and it became a family name. Peller, the comedian, is not related to us. He’s just smart and has leveraged the name’s popularity, but I can categorically tell you he’s not from the Peller family.”

Shina’s statement comes amidst growing public curiosity over the TikToker’s rising fame, with many fans assuming a connection to the prestigious Peller family. Professor Peller, who passed away in 1997, remains a celebrated figure in Nigerian entertainment, and the family name continues to hold significant weight in the industry.

While Shina acknowledged the TikToker’s clever use of the name, he also highlighted the legacy of his family, which includes achievements in magic, entertainment, and public service.

The clarification aims to set the record straight and prevent further misrepresentation of the Professor Peller brand, which has been a cornerstone of Nigerian showbiz for decades.
