A horrifying scene unfolded in Orozo, a community on the border of Nasarawa State and Abuja, as worshippers at a church apprehended a man, Oluwatimileyin Ajayi, carrying the decapitated head of his girlfriend in a black polybag during a thanksgiving service. The incident, which occurred on Sunday at around 11 a.m., has sent shockwaves across the community and the nation.

Ajayi, who was reportedly seated at the back of the church during the service, aroused suspicion when he was seen throwing a bag into a nearby river. A confrontation ensued when two bikemen arrived, identifying Ajayi as someone they had earlier transported while noticing blood dripping from his bag. Upon being cornered by the bikemen and church members, Ajayi attempted to flee but was captured after a lengthy chase.

When questioned, Ajayi confessed to killing his girlfriend following an argument over her phone, which allegedly revealed messages from another man. He claimed to have stabbed her in the neck after she injured him with a knife. Startlingly, Ajayi admitted that he was transporting her head to deliver it to a woman who had requested it.

The police, arriving after a delay of over 30 minutes, took Ajayi into custody along with the recovered head. Eyewitnesses and social media users have since identified Ajayi as a gospel singer and content creator, though these claims remain unverified.

The gruesome discovery has deeply shaken the church and local community, with many expressing disbelief and horror at the events. Church members described the incident as unprecedented, emphasizing the trauma caused by witnessing such a heinous crime.

Efforts to obtain official statements from the Nasarawa Police Command are ongoing, as the investigation into the crime continues.
