In a bold demonstration of his immigration policies, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested over 460 illegal immigrants within the first 33 hours of President Donald Trump’s second term in office. The arrests targeted individuals with criminal histories, including charges of sexual assault, robbery, domestic violence, drug trafficking, and weapons offenses.
Between midnight on January 21 and 9 a.m. on January 22, ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) conducted a nationwide crackdown, arresting individuals across multiple states, including California, New York, Florida, Illinois, Minnesota, Utah, and Maryland. Those detained included nationals from countries such as Afghanistan, Angola, Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, and Senegal, among others.
This large-scale operation aligns with Trump’s campaign promise to prioritize the removal of illegal immigrants with criminal records. His newly signed executive order directs immigration authorities to expedite the identification, arrest, and deportation of undocumented individuals deemed a threat to public safety.
