Nollywood star Adesua Etomi-Wellington has opened up about the intense medical battles she and her family faced in 2024, revealing details of her emergency C-section and her husband Banky W’s cancer surgery.
Celebrating her birthday in 2025, Adesua took to Instagram to reflect on a harrowing year that tested her strength and faith. She recounted battling severe hyperemesis (extreme pregnancy sickness), hospital admissions, and a life-threatening delivery, all while her husband, singer and politician Banky W, underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumor.
“2024 really tried to take the wind out of my sails. I was sick for months, then admitted to the hospital. Just when I thought I had faced the worst, I found out the love of my life needed another cancer surgery. While still battling my own illness and pregnancy, I ended up needing an emergency C-section because the devil tried it AGAIN. The healing process was brutal. But I’m here. I survived.”
She described the experience as one of the toughest battles of her life but credited her faith, resilience, and support system for seeing her through.
The actress expressed gratitude for her “village of incredible people” and affirmed that she is stepping into 2025 with renewed strength and determination.
“God has used this season to stretch me, to show me that I’m capable of more than I ever realized. NOW, I’m coming for everything that is mine. Nothing and nobody can stop me.”
