In a thrilling encounter at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on February 9, 2025, Akwa United secured a 2-1 win against Enyimba, marking their first victory under head coach Kennedy Boboye.
The Promise Keepers took the lead in the 28th minute through Olayemi Ogunleye’s strike. Enyimba responded with an equalizer by Issah Mohammed in the 40th minute. The decisive moment came in the 75th minute when Uche Sabastine netted the winner for Akwa United.
Assistant coach Akarandut Orok praised the team’s determination, stating, “We are excited about the win. It was a tough match, and both teams needed the victory, but we wanted it more.
