Frontline governorship aspirant and Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, has declared that he remains the best candidate to unseat the incumbent Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, in the upcoming November 2025 gubernatorial election.
Speaking at the new All Progressives Congress (APC) state secretariat in Awka on Sunday, Okonkwo urged the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and its National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, to consider him for the party’s consensus ticket. He emphasized that a united APC, rallying behind a strong candidate like himself, would have the best chance to wrestle power from Soludo and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
This appeal aligns with Ganduje’s recent stance that the APC would prefer a consensus candidate for the election rather than engaging in a financially burdensome primary process.
“I remain the best candidate APC can use to unseat the incumbent governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo. If elected, Anambra will witness unprecedented growth, peace, and development that will transform the lives of Ndi-Anambra,” Okonkwo stated.
He further assured party stakeholders of his commitment to good governance, transparency, and service delivery, in line with the APC’s vision for Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu. Okonkwo pledged to work closely with the Tinubu administration to drive economic and infrastructural progress in Anambra, irrespective of ethnic or political differences.
With the APC aiming to consolidate its influence in the Southeast, Okonkwo’s bid for the party’s ticket will be closely watched as the election date approaches.
