200 farmers across Anambra State are undergoing specialized agricultural training and empowerment under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Agriculture Support Programme, launched by Dr. Nonye Soludo, wife of Anambra State Governor. The initiative, flagged off at Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu, aims to enhance food security, boost local food production, and empower farmers with modern agricultural techniques.

The selected farmers, drawn from the 21 local government areas of the state, are receiving hands-on training in irrigation farming, fishery, piggery, poultry, and vegetable cultivation.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Nonye Soludo reaffirmed the commitment of the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to strengthening the agricultural sector through the RHI programme. She emphasized that the training would equip farmers with modern techniques for higher yields, reduce food dependency, and create self-sufficiency in rural communities.

She urged participants to take the training seriously and disseminate their knowledge to other farmers in their communities, ensuring a multiplier effect in agricultural productivity.

At the event, Dr. Njideka Chiekezie, Acting Rector of Anambra State Polytechnic, applauded the initiative, commending the government for choosing the institution as a training hub. She also lauded Soludo’s Healthy Living Initiative, which promotes sustainable farming, organic agriculture, and food security.

Farmers expressed excitement over the programme. Ezekiel Okwuchukwu, a participant, noted that the training would significantly enhance his farming operations, improve productivity, and help him adopt best agricultural practices.
