Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla has advised the club to engage in discussions with Vinicius Jr. regarding reported transfer offers from the Saudi Pro League, warning that keeping an unhappy player could be detrimental to the team.
Speaking to AS, Casilla emphasized that before rejecting offers outright, Madrid should first determine if the Brazilian winger is satisfied in Spain.
“If I were the club, I would ask the player. If you have a player who wants to leave, you have to let him go. Otherwise, it would be detrimental to the team,” he stated.
Reports suggest that Saudi Arabian clubs are prepared to offer massive wages to lure Vinicius Jr. and his compatriot Rodrygo to the Middle East. However, Casilla believes both players should stay, considering their young age and the fact that they are key figures in Madrid’s squad.
“If I were a player, I would say no. You are at Real Madrid, a flagship club, still young, and have many years to give joy. The Saudi clubs can come back in five years with that offer.”
With Real Madrid actively planning for the future, the club now faces the challenge of fending off interest from Saudi Arabia while ensuring their key stars remain committed to the project at the Santiago Bernabéu.
