The Ebonyi State Police Command has dismissed reports suggesting that its officers were involved in the alleged abduction of Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) President, Igboayaka O. Igboayaka.
In a statement issued on Monday, February 10, 2025, the command’s spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, clarified that Igboayaka was not abducted but is currently under investigation for allegedly spreading false information capable of inciting unrest and destabilizing communities in Ebonyi State.
Police Statement on the Allegations
According to Ukandu, the investigation was initiated following a petition submitted to the Commissioner of Police, accusing the youth leader of circulating misleading reports.
“The command is currently investigating these allegations, and once the investigation is concluded, he will be charged in court,” the police statement read.
The Ebonyi State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing the law while respecting individual rights, urging the public to disregard false reports that could escalate tension.
