The Imo State Police Command has arrested 35-year-old Chidi Azonibe for allegedly distributing a false threat notice about an impending attack by Fulani herdsmen in Umuoba, Irete, Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State. The message, which read, “FULANI HERDSMEN. WE ARE COMING. WAIT FOR US AT ANYTIME, ANY MOMENT NOW,” caused widespread fear among residents, leading to a police investigation.

According to Imo Police spokesperson DSP Henry Okoye, Azonibe confessed to circulating the message with his brother, Amanea, under the instruction of Prophetess Ijeoma of Assembly Church, Irete. The prophetess allegedly told them she received a divine revelation about an attack and ordered them to warn residents.
