Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo has revealed that intense pressure and blacklisting from marketers pushed her out of the industry, forcing her to abandon her once-thriving acting career.

In a candid Instagram post on Friday, Okeowo disclosed that she was sidelined after refusing to give in to the exploitative demands of industry marketers, who allegedly pressured her into inappropriate situations.

“Marketers were the reason I left the industry after blacklisting me for refusing to remove my panties,” she stated. “They told producers to stop featuring me and even removed my image from the poster of a film where I played the lead role.”

The actress, who tied the knot with her US-based partner, Adeniyi Olabiyi, in July 2024, admitted that the relentless sabotage she faced led to her loss of passion for acting.

“They did so much damage to my career that I eventually got tired of acting and walked away myself. I developed so much hatred for a job I once loved that I began turning down roles,” she added.

Despite the challenges, Okeowo expressed gratitude for her current success outside of Nollywood, declaring, “I’m a living testimony today! I’m doing extremely well.”

Her revelation has reignited conversations about industry exploitation and the toxic power dynamics that have plagued Nollywood for years.
