Niger Tornadoes’ technical adviser, Majin Mohammed, has downplayed his team’s 1-1 draw against Plateau United, describing it as a temporary setback in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign.
The game saw Papa Daniel fire Tornadoes into the lead, only for Samuel Kalu to equalize late for Plateau United, capitalizing on a lapse in concentration from the hosts.
Speaking after the match, Mohammed admitted his side failed to manage the game effectively in the closing stages:
“The result is a temporary setback for us, knowing well that we beat them in Jos in the first stanza of the season. In the first half, we didn’t put our house in order, but we came back in the second half and got the goal. Unfortunately, we lost concentration in the dying minutes and conceded.”
Despite the dropped points, Niger Tornadoes remain in ninth place on the league table with 31 points, still within striking distance of the top teams.
The Ikon Allah Boys will now shift focus to their next NPFL fixture, aiming to bounce back from this setback and keep their momentum in the second half of the season.
