Arsenal captain, Martin Odegaard, has sent a strong message to the Gunners’ Premier League title rivals, declaring that his side still has “another gear” as they push for glory in the final stretch of the season.
Arsenal currently sits second on the Premier League table, trailing Liverpool by six points, though Jurgen Klopp’s men have a game in hand. Despite the gap, Odegaard remains confident that Mikel Arteta’s side can step up their performances and challenge for the title.
“For the team, we’re in a good position, but I feel like we have another gear, another step that we can take,” Odegaard told The Mirror. “Hopefully, we can hit that top form now until the end of the season.”
Reflecting on last season’s title race, the Norwegian midfielder believes Arsenal’s late surge proved their potential, and he expects a similar strong finish this time around.
“It was the same last year. We really hit top form towards the end of the season. Hopefully, we can do that again and finish with a good run.”
Personal Targets: Odegaard Wants More Goals
The 25-year-old also admitted that he needs to be more clinical in front of goal, having not scored as much as expected this season.
“I feel like I’ve been in enough situations and created a lot for others, but I haven’t been clinical enough with my finishing. That’s something I really want to step up towards the end of the season.”
With Arsenal determined to keep pace with Liverpool and Manchester City, all eyes will be on whether Odegaard and his teammates can rise to the occasion and mount a serious title charge in the closing months of the season.
