On the evening of Saturday, February 8, 2025, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), was reportedly abducted from his residence in the Works Layout area of Owerri, Imo State. Eyewitnesses recounted that seven armed individuals, dressed in black and arriving in a Sienna and a Lexus SUV, forcibly took him away.

Following the incident, family members and associates attempted to contact Igboayaka, but all his mobile lines were found to be switched off. This development has heightened concerns about his safety and whereabouts.

In response to the abduction, the Imo State Police Command, through its spokesperson DSP Henry Okoye, clarified that Igboayaka is not in their custody. Okoye stated, “The Imo State Police Command has initiated an investigation to determine the whereabouts of the President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), Comrade Igboayaka. In the meantime, the command has confirmed that he has not been arrested. Anyone with information is urged to notify the police.”

The Igbo National Council (INC), led by President Chilos Godsent, has called on security agencies to expedite efforts to locate and rescue Igboayaka. Godsent emphasized the urgency, stating that the abduction has left followers, family, and friends in a state of confusion and distress.

As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the abduction, and the motives remain unclear. The incident has sparked widespread concern across the Igbo community and beyond, with many calling for swift action to ensure Igboayaka’s safe return.
