A devastating fire broke out at an MTN booster station located within the University of Ibadan’s Faculty of Nursing premises in the early hours of Saturday, February 22, 2025.

Reports indicate that the fire was triggered by an electrical surge, which quickly spread, engulfing the Mikano electrical generator, electrical board, and other crucial telecommunications equipment.

Confirming the incident, the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, stated that emergency responders, alongside the university’s fire marshals, were able to contain the inferno before it spread to nearby structures.
