The political landscape in Rivers State is heating up as the Emeka Beke-led faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Tony Okocha of orchestrating a plot to force former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, out of the party.

Okocha, who recently launched a scathing attack on Amaechi, labeled him a failed politician who, despite his tenure as minister, failed to attract any meaningful projects to Rivers State.

In response, Darlington Nwauju, spokesperson for the Beke-led APC faction, condemned Okocha’s remarks, questioning his political motives and accusing him of attempting to dismantle the party’s foundation in Rivers.

“Why is Amaechi’s Name a Political Bargaining Tool?”
Nwauju, in a strongly worded statement, alleged that Okocha is intentionally trying to fracture the party and alienate Amaechi, who he described as one of the original pillars of APC in Rivers State.

“The only reason why Tony Okocha is doing everything possible to construct a gulf in the APC family is to vex the original stakeholders of the party in the state like Amaechi and force him out of a political party he labored to build in Rivers State.”

The internal crisis within Rivers APC raises serious concerns over the party’s unity ahead of upcoming political contests, as key stakeholders remain deeply divided over leadership and loyalty issues.
