Controversial Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington, known for his eccentric personality and viral moments, has disclosed that he has been arrested 19 times and detained five times throughout his life.
The ‘Bangdadadang’ hitmaker made the revelation in a freestyle video posted on his social media page, rapping:
“Five lockups, 19 arrests, I get game but I no dey hear. When you hear this one, na Kuje.”
Speed Darlington’s run-ins with the law have been well documented. In October and November 2024, he was arrested twice after mocking Burna Boy’s relationship with American music mogul Sean Combs (Diddy). Following his arrest, he was held at the Kuje Correctional Facility before finally regaining freedom on January 21, 2025, weeks after securing bail from a Federal High Court in Abuja.
Days after his release, he made another explosive claim, alleging that he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt after leaving a club in Lagos. The claim sparked controversy, leading his lawyer, Stan Alieke, to sever ties with him and his legal representation.
Despite his history of legal troubles, Speed Darlington remains defiant, stating that his lawyer was “free to leave if he was tired of supporting him.”
The rapper, known for blending humor, controversy, and music, continues to make headlines—whether for his legal battles or his unconventional persona.
