Nigerian TikTok influencer Olumide Ogunsanwo, known online as ‘Sea King’, faced re-arrest on February 6, 2025, at the Ogba Magistrate’s Court in Lagos. Authorities allege that during a December 2024 live session, he cyberbullied Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
Initially detained in December 2024 for videos criticizing President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ogunsanwo was charged with cyberstalking, treason, and conduct likely to breach public peace. He secured bail set at ₦500,000 with two sureties.
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore condemned the re-arrest, highlighting concerns over freedom of expression. He questioned how a TikTok video could intimidate a prominent religious leader like Pastor Adeboye.
The Concerned Christian Youth Forum (CCYF) claimed responsibility for Ogunsanwo’s arrest, citing violations of Nigerian cybercrime laws. They emphasized a zero-tolerance stance toward disrespect directed at esteemed Christian figures.
Legal experts and human rights advocates are closely monitoring the situation, emphasizing the delicate balance between upholding freedom of speech and addressing cyber harassment.
