A heart-wrenching tragedy has unfolded in Nnewi, Anambra State, where a mother, Mrs. Chikazor Ogochukwu Ejezie, returned home from church to the devastating sight of her three children dead inside a freezer.

The grieving mother narrated that she had left her children at home to attend an exam in Ihiala, only to return to an empty house with the door wide open and no sign of her children.

Her three-year-old son and two daughters, aged seven and nine, were nowhere to be found, prompting her to raise the alarm and begin a frantic search.

“At first, I thought they had gone out to play and would return soon. But as evening approached, and I still didn’t see them, I became worried and started searching for them,” she said.

Mysterious Disappearance and Disturbing Discovery
A concerned neighbor mentioned seeing two unidentified young men enter the compound earlier in the day. Another witness recalled seeing one of the daughters step out to buy something before returning home.

After an intense search, the shocking discovery was made: the lifeless bodies of the three children were found inside a freezer in their home.

Their father, Mr. Samuel Ejezie, said he found it unusual that the children did not rush to welcome their mother as they usually did whenever she returned home.

“Normally, when my wife comes home, they run out to hug her. But this time, the house was open, their shoes were scattered around, and there was no sign of them,” he recalled.

The family lives in a compound shared with a landlord’s elderly mother and some nursing students, none of whom were present when the incident occurred.

Authorities Launch Investigation
The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed an ongoing investigation into the mysterious deaths, as no one has claimed responsibility or witnessed how the children ended up inside the freezer.

The tragic event adds to the recent rise in child deaths in Anambra State. Just weeks ago, three children were found dead inside a parked vehicle in Nise, sparking concerns over safety and security in the region.
