A pregnant woman and her baby have died in a tragic medical negligence case at Lebechi Hospital, Owerri, Imo State, after a doctor allegedly watched a YouTube tutorial while performing a Cesarean Section (CS).

The shocking incident was reported by the deceased’s husband, Onyekachi Eze, who stormed the Imo State Police Command alongside popular Nollywood producer, Stanley Ontop, to demand justice.

Husband’s Heartbreaking Account
Narrating the ordeal in a viral video, Eze recounted how his wife was taken to the hospital when she went into labor, but the doctors informed him that she needed an urgent CS due to excessive bleeding.

“Right in my presence, the doctors were using their phones to watch a YouTube video on how to perform the surgery. Before I knew it, I lost my wife and my baby,” a devastated Eze said.

Hospital Owner Arrested, Doctors on the Run
Following public outcry, the hospital owner and some nurses have been arrested, while the two doctors responsible have absconded and are currently being searched for by the authorities.

Confirming the arrests, Stanley Ontop shared an update on social media:

“The owner of the hospital has been arrested. The nurses too. But the doctors who performed the surgery are on the run. The search for them continues.”
