Liverpool manager Arne Slot has described Paris Saint-Germain as the most complete team his side has faced this season, ahead of their decisive Champions League last-16 second-leg clash at Anfield.
Despite securing a 1-0 victory in the first leg in Paris, Liverpool were largely dominated by PSG, with Slot admitting after the game that his side was “very lucky” to come away with a win.
Now, with a place in the quarter-finals at stake, Slot has issued a rallying call to his players, insisting they must deliver their best performance of the season to progress.
“I think we will need our best performance of the season because this is the most complete team we’ve faced so far,” Slot said in his pre-match press conference on Monday.
The Dutchman acknowledged the quality of Arsenal and Manchester City, but emphasized that PSG’s intensity, squad depth, and financial power make them a formidable challenge.
“Let’s be honest, we are talking about the richest club in the world. They have so much quality and a great manager who brings out the best in every player.”
Liverpool will need to withstand PSG’s attacking firepower, led by Kylian Mbappé, as they aim to protect their narrow advantage and secure a spot in the quarter-finals.
